Do you hear The Great Outdoors calling your name but not so sure you want to respond unless you know what the amenities are going to be? I’ve got you covered with these five great places to glamp in Texas. All of the fun of being in the outdoors without having to worry about making the nearest bush your bathroom.
Getaway House
Getaway has multiple locations across Texas and the United States.
The Set Up
There are multiple modern cabins that are nicely spread out. You may catch glimpses of your neighbors but you’re far enough away to feel secluded. Each cabin comes with a queen bed (they’re also bunk beds available), a kitchenette, table and chairs, and an outside fire pit. There is also AC and heating.
The Toilet Situation
There is a full bathroom in the cabin, complete with a large shower and flushable toilet.
Things to Remember
The premise behind get away is that you are about an hour outside of the nearest large city so make sure that you bring any groceries that you might need as well as your own water. The cabin does have a basket of provisions, such as pasta, tea, and other snacks – it’s essentially a mini bar.

The Local Chapter
The Local Chapter is a collection of four luxury yurts in Terlingua, TX just outside the main gate of Big Bend National Park.
The Set Up
These yurts are gorgeous! It’s definitely the most glamorous glamping option of these 5. The property that the yurts are located on is almost 400 acres, so it’s quite private. There are also 360 views of the desert. The yurt itself has some great amenities. There is a king size bed, a refrigerator, a microwave, and a Keurig coffee maker. In addition to the wood burning stove located in the yurt, there is also electric heat and air conditioning.
The Toilet Situation
There is a full bathroom located in the yurt. There is an oversized shower, and a real flushing toilet. The Local Chapter even provides robes.
Things to Remember
There are not that many dining options in Terlingua so you’ll want to bring snacks and drinks. There is only a microwave to heat up food in the yurt so you’ll need to take that into consideration with any meals that you may want to make while you’re there. While there are basics provided such as glasses, a bottle opener, and coffee for the Keurig, there are no utensils so you’ll need to bring your own.

Blue Skies Retro Resort
Blue Skies Retro Resort is a funky, retro trailer park just outside of Fredericksburg, TX.
The Set Up
There are 5 colorful Shasta trailers Each with their own name and color scheme. Each trailer has a full size bed. A couple of the trailers are slightly larger and have a couch for a third person to sleep on. But I’d have to admit, it’s a bit of a squeeze to have three people in one of these trailers. The trailers are also equipped with a sink and small kitchenette with a fridge as well as a television. There is also a community pool on site that is shared with all the guests staying at the trailer park. The trailers do have heat and AC and there is WiFi.
The Toilet Situation
While each trailer does have a small toilet in the trailer itself there is also a detached pavilion with private toilets designated to each trailer. It is a bit of a walk to get to the bathrooms from the trailer but they are spacious. There are also outdoor showers for each trailer and the bathroom pavilion which are probably more enjoyable to use in the summer as opposed to the winter.
Things to Remember
Fredericksburg is about a 15 to 20-minute drive away from the trailers which is also where the nearest restaurants are so you want to make sure that you bring any snacks or drinks that you want to have with you at the trailer. There is a community grill on site if you want to cook outdoors.
Cypress Valley Treehouses
Cypress Valley in Spicewood, TX has 5 unique treehouses as well as one large, very nice Ranch House. Each of the accommodations has different amenities, I personally stayed in the largest treehouse, The Nest, so let’s talk about that one.
The Set Up
The Nest is quite large and has multiple rooms as well as multiple levels. There is a kitchenette with a large table and a full size fridge. There is also heating and air conditioning. The kitchen and dining area are in their own building separate from the two bedrooms and lounge. One bedroom has a queen-size bed and the other has two twin beds, there is a bean bag in the lounge that can convert into a fourth bed. There is quite a lot of room on the property so you feel very private in your own treehouse.
The Toilet Situation
There is a private bath house that is separate from the tree house. The bath house is located near where you would be parking your car just across a bridge from the treehouse. There is a full shower as well as a real flushing bathroom and sink.
Things to Remember
There are quite a few restaurants just a short drive from the Cypress Valley property so you don’t need to worry as much about bringing your own provisions. But if you did want to cook your own meals the kitchenette is quite large and has everything you need.
Honeysuckle Rose
The Honeysuckle Rose is an Airbnb located in Austin, TX. There are two remodeled vintage Spartan trailers on the property located right next to each other.
The Set Up
These cute custom trailers are located on 3.5 acres and even though they are right next to each other it still feels quite secluded on the property. Both trailers have a king size bed as well as a kitchenette, television, and Wi-Fi. They’re also adorably decorated.
The Toilet Situation
Each trailer has its own detached bathroom right next to the trailer. There is a shower, flushing toilets, and vanity and they even provide robes for guests.
Things to Remember
This property is located in Austin so you don’t need to worry too much if you forget something, you have easy access to the city.
